BSC Certification

There are so many BSC practitioners out there -- many of them are great. Many of them are not so great. It seems to me that it would be helpful to the "buying public" if there were a certification standard. In this way they could be assured that they are hiring someone with knoweldge of the Balanced Scorecard.
What elements should be included in a certification?

To me, certification has to be all about real world experience, not just that you were able to memorize some facts and pass a test. (Although the knowledge is important, too.) I think certified consultants should have had experience implementing the Balanced Scorecard at least twice, so that they know how to manage the process and have some experience that they bring to the table. Otherwise, there are enough good books out there. -- Tina

Laura, are you thinking about a consultant certification? What would be the value of certification for an internal practitioner. I work within a company as an employee. Are you suggesting that this would be similar to a Microsoft Certification, where it would create value internally and be transferrable if I left my job and went to another company. Maybe six sigma is a good example of that.

Personally, I don't see much value in something like this.
