Boys and Girls Clubs to present at the Mission Driven Summit 2012
I'm happy to announce that the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico will be presenting at the upcoming Mission-Driven Summit on March 6-8, 2012. This is the premier conference for mission driven organizations (governments, nonprofits, associations, and education organizations). Keynote speakers include David Norton, co-creator of the Balanced Scorecard concept, and Daniel Pink, author of Drive and other books about changing the world of work.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico is an exciting addition to the conference for several reasons. Boys and Girls Clubs specialize in the creation of prevention programs for boys and girls between the ages of 6-18. Their mission is to offer young people hope of a better future and opportunities to develop their full potential. The vision of the organization is to elevate the development of youth to one of the three most important priorities of Puerto Rico.
BGCPR has managed to grow quite successfully, even during the financial crisis, and now has 8 clubs in Puerto Rico and a budget of over $7.5 Million. In the past two years, they have the following awards for their outstanding performance: MAC Gold Award (for marketing and communications), Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame (for strategy execution), and QUEST Award (for outstanding service). Jose Campos, the Executive Director of BGCPR was recently appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico as Co-Chair for the "Alianza para la Transformacion Social."
We are very excited to share the story of the success of Boys and Girls Club of Puerto Rico, and we look forward to working with the other delegates of the Mission Driven Summit 2012 to find the key take aways that other mission driven organizations can use to create similar successes in their organizations.
