Examples of BSC Failures?

Does anyone have any examples of BSC failures? Seems to me that you'd learn just as much from what did not go right as what did.

Samesh,

I haven't seen that many documented Balanced Scorecard failures, but I do know that they exist. (Maybe people are just not comfortable admitting that they failed). Typically, I've found that Balanced Scorecard projects fail (or are less likely to succeed) when there is:

* little executive leadership or sponsorship
* disagreement on the strategy itself
* no discipline around the strategy review meeting
* no attention paid to leading indicators
* the BSC becomes a political tool
